A new Indiana University report shows nonprofit employees work in finance, construction and other industries traditionally considered the domain of for-profit businesses. Nonprofits in nontraditional industries gained more in jobs and payroll than for-profit counterparts and more traditional nonprofits.

Charitable giving in the United States is expected to grow by 4.8 percent in 2015 and by an additional 4.9 percent in 2016, according to The Philanthropy Outlook, a new report researched and written by the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. The report is presented by Marts + Lundy, a leading fundraising and philanthropy consulting firm.

Donors, nonprofit organizations and scholars will benefit from increased understanding of women's philanthropy as a result of a $375,000 research grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to the Women's Philanthropy Institute at the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.

A pilot program that will advance the study of philanthropy by mentoring those who plan to teach it is being initiated by the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy and the Learning by Giving Foundation. The pilot program director will mentor an emerging scholar, who will develop and teach a university-level experiential philanthropy course in which students grant $10,000 to local nonprofit organizations.

The annual day of giving known as #GivingTuesday is explored in a new Giving USA Spotlight report published by Giving USA Foundation and researched and written by the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.
