The Muslim Philanthropy Initiative (MPI) seeks to convene, train, and empower a new generation of Muslim philanthropic and nonprofit leaders. We organize symposiums and seminars, hold training programs, and conduct research in this under-studied area.
MPI was established in 2017 as an initiative of Lake Institute on Faith and Giving and the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy dean’s office.
Muslim philanthropy is one of the most diverse faith communities in the United States, and under perpetual scrutiny by media, scholars, the public, and government. The Muslim nonprofit and philanthropic sector is seeing dramatic growth in response to its ongoing challenges.
