Two alumni and a faculty member of the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at IU Indianapolis are being honored as three of "Forty-Under-40" young professionals to watch.
The honor, which is conferred by the Indianapolis Business Journal (IBJ), recognizes central Indiana leaders under the age of 40 for professional success in their field as well as accomplishments in their communities and in civil society.
David P. King, Ph.D., is Karen Lake Buttrey Director of Lake Institute on Faith & Giving and assistant professor of philanthropic studies at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. The institute fosters a greater understanding of the ways in which faith both inspires and informs giving by providing knowledge, education, and training. It helps religious leaders at congregations from coast to coast learn to be more effective.
King previously has been named one of 10 Young Scholars in American Religion by the Center for the Study of Religion & American Culture. His forthcoming book is Seeking to Save the World: The Evolution of World Vision, American Evangelicalism, and Global Humanitarianism.
Derrick Feldmann, is president of Achieve, a research and marketing agency for causes, which created the Millennial Impact Project and the annual, national MCON conference. He is a 2004 alumnus of the Master of Arts in Philanthropic Studies degree program at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy and a member of the school's Board of Visitors.
Angela Carr Klitzsch, president and CEO of EmployIndy, where she has raised $6 million and created and implemented Project Indy, the mayor of Indianapolis' summer employment program for young people. She is a 2007 alumna of the dual master's degree program, which enables students to simultaneously earn the school's M.A. in Philanthropic Studies and IU Indianapolis School of Public and Environmental Affairs' Master of Public Affairs degree with a concentration in Nonprofit Management in fewer credit hours than it would take to earn each degree separately.
