Biography
Mason Rummel joined the James Graham Brown Foundation in 1989 and was elected its president in 2010 and its CEO in 2017. Prior to moving to Louisville, Kentucky in 1988, she was a political appointee for the Reagan Administration from 1983 to 1988.
Active in regional and national work in philanthropy, she serves on Philanthropy Southeast’s Public Policy Committee, the board of the Council on Foundations, is a member of its Public Policy Committee, and the Philanthropy Roundtable’s Public Policy Working Group.
In Louisville, Mason is a founder of Grantmakers of Kentucky, serves on the boards of the executive board of EVOLVE502, the Kentucky Derby Museum, Leadership Louisville’s Elevate 2023 Strategic Advisory Council, and the Center for Nonprofit Excellence. She is also the Board Chair of her alma mater, Sweet Briar College in Virginia.
Mason received her B.A. in English from Sweet Briar College, VA, and holds a Master of Arts in Philanthropic Studies at Indiana University’s Lilly Family School of Philanthropy as well as a Master of Arts in Creative and Professional Writing from Spalding University.
She is married to Rick Rummel and has three grown children and one grandchild.
