Luana serves as the program manager of the Power of Children Awards, a national youth service recognition program, at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. She served as consultant, coach, and strategist for 17 years, advising strategies, program development, curriculum creation, and professional development for K-12 schools and youth organizations, and providing research and grant writing support.
As a consultant, she supported institutions interested in creating a vision and strategic approach to youth service, leadership, and community-based teaching and learning for school-age youth. Previously, she was a director for service learning and philanthropy education in two K-12 schools. Luana began her philanthropic career as a research assistant and program director of two youth philanthropy initiatives of the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University (now the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy).
Luana received undergraduate degrees in rhetoric from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and secondary English education from IU Indianapolis. She earned an executive master’s degree from the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.
As a volunteer, she served on the steering committees of Youth Philanthropy Initiative of Indiana and the Foundation Center’s YouthGiving.org and an advisor to the youth leadership and philanthropy organization, Grab the Torch.
Luana is a mother of three teen and college-age daughters and lives in Indianapolis. Her hobbies include cooking, board game and card playing, kayaking, and spending time with family and friends.
