Biography
Diantha Daniels, M.A., joined the research team of the IU Lilly Family School of Philanthropy in 2019 after a long career in nonprofit leadership in the education sector. She manages most of the logistical details (calendaring, presentations, travel) for the research team – first as executive assistant to Associate Dean Una Osili – and then, upon Una’s departure in July 2025, stepped back to part-time and supports the other members of the research team as well as some editing of reports.
Prior to coming to the school, Diantha served in Indianapolis as Admissions Director for the International School, Brebeuf Preparatory School, and Herron High School. She has also served as Director of Artist Programs for Arts for Learning in Indiana, and as executive director of The David School, a high school for at-risk high school students in eastern Kentucky. She is deeply committed to mentoring and supporting young people to reach their fullest potential.
Diantha’s academic background is in English, with a particular research focus on postcolonial African literature that examines the profound cultural, social, and psychological impacts of European domination, resistance, and the subsequent struggles for independence.
As a volunteer, Diantha is drawn to opportunities to work for social justice and to level the educational playing field for low-income young people. Her work with children with dyslexia is particularly meaningful to her.
Diantha received bachelor’s degrees from Butler University and Indiana University at Indianapolis, as well as her master’s from Butler University. She has also pursued additional coursework in Philanthropic Studies. She currently works remotely from Durham, NC.
