New professional development opportunity from Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy
Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy is offering a new professional development program titled “Empowering Generosity: Understanding Philanthropy for Advisors” March 9 to 11, 2026 in San Diego at the Hilton Bayfront hotel.
This three-day, in-person certificate program is designed for financial planners, wealth managers, philanthropy advisors, as well as professionals at community foundations, private foundations, donor collaboratives, and social impact funds.
As the world’s first and only school dedicated solely to the study and teaching of philanthropy, the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy is home to world-class faculty whose research and scholarship inform its curriculum. This program draws on their deep knowledge, expertise, and real-world experience to equip course participants with vital resources for philanthropic advising success.
The course curriculum includes:
- An exploration of the roles of a philanthropic advisor, as well as new approaches, contexts, and business models·
- A comprehensive look at philanthropic trends and demographics, the most recent research in the field, and what various communities of donors seek from advisors
- Ethical considerations in advising
- How group dynamics influence giving
- Effective ways to guide clients through the continuum of charitable to strategic giving and how to maximize social benefits at each stage
Course registration fee is $5,000 and includes three days of instruction, three nights of hotel costs, breakfast, lunch, and snack breaks, and a course certificate upon completion of the program. Registration information is available here.
