Application deadline: September 28, 2025
The Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, with support from the Carnegie Corporation of New York, is excited to announce the second opportunity under the Emerging Scholars on African Philanthropy Initiative. This Emerging Scholars Research Program will enable early-career scholars from sub-Saharan Africa to advance their research on philanthropy and higher education. It will also help foster a stronger network of scholars in philanthropic studies across sub-Saharan Africa.
This program is designed to create the space for emerging and senior scholars in philanthropy to share their research and receive constructive feedback. It will be intentionally small with only 12 emerging scholars from sub-Saharan Africa.
The selected scholars will receive a research grant to conduct their proposed study and be part of a cohort of peer scholars for scholarly conversations and potential collaboration. Furthermore, scholars will benefit from one-on-one academic mentorship opportunities on research, writing, and publication from senior scholars in philanthropy.
Applications are due on September 28, 2025.Read more about the application criteria and how to apply.
