The Women’s Philanthropy Institute (WPI), part of the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, announced the honorees of the Black Women Give Back List, an initiative to showcase the important work and contributions of Black women philanthropists. Created in partnership with Black Philanthropy Month and The Women Invested to Save the Earth (WISE) Fund, the campaign spotlights 10 outstanding Black women philanthropists who use their time, talent, treasure, testimony and ties to make the world a better place.
Building on existing research that demonstrates the unique perspectives women across race and ethnicity bring to philanthropy and recognizing women as leaders for racial justice causes, this list highlights the important work and contributions Black women philanthropists have made around the world.
The 10 women featured in the 2022 Black Women Give Back List include:
• Nicole Cardoza, Founder and CEO of Reclamation Ventures
• Soffiyah Elijah, Executive Director of Alliance of Families for Justice
• Carol Goss, Founder of Warrior Women Against Poverty
• Ebonie Johnson Cooper, Executive Director of Young, Black & Giving Back Institute
• Maria S. Johnson, PhD, Founder and Chairperson of Black Women and Girls Fund
• Cathryn McClellan Kelly, Global Strategic Partnerships Program Manager at American Express
• Mary Olushoga, Founder of The African Women Power Network
• Ada Williams Prince, Director of Program Strategy and Investment at Pivotal Ventures
• Joy B. Webb, Program Director at The Community Investment Network
• Tyeshia Wilson, Director of Engagement at Philanthropy Together
Black Enterprise has highlighted the honorees and their contributions, which you can view here. The honorees were also featured in a video highlighting the initiative.
Their contributions will be showcased on August 31st at Reunity, an international Black women funders’ power and wellness summit hosted by the Women’s Philanthropy Institute, Black Philanthropy Month and The WISE Fund.
