Veteran fundraising executive Ann Boyd-Stewart has been named assistant dean for development and alumni relations at the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.
In her new role, Boyd-Stewart will provide overall strategic and executive leadership for the school's development and alumni relations activities and manage its capital campaign. She will lead a team of fundraising professionals in growing the school's support from individuals, corporations and foundations. An alumna of the school's executive master's degree program in philanthropic studies, she will develop strategies to engage and involve key constituents in supporting the school.
"We are thrilled that Ann is returning to her alma mater to play a leadership role in the future of our school," said Amir Pasic, the Eugene R. Tempel Dean of the school. "We welcome her enthusiasm for the work of our students and faculty as well as her track record of success in advancing major university development and alumni relations operations."
Boyd-Stewart comes to the school after serving as assistant vice president for medical advancement for Stony Brook Medicine and its 11 School of Medicine units and Health Science Schools, leading efforts that raised $27 million in the 2015 fiscal year, an increase of 49 percent. During her tenure she developed comprehensive campaign plans for each unit and school to raise an additional $100 million over three years.

Prior to joining Stony Brook, Boyd-Stewart was vice president for university advancement at Chatham University, concluding the silent phase of a comprehensive $100 million campaign and raising $35 million in 20 months. She previously was the director of development for 13 departments in the University of Michigan Medical School, where she developed multidisciplinary proposals across departments, centers and schools and completed 18 endowed professorships.
Boyd-Stewart also has held development leadership positions with the University of Michigan's School of Natural Resources & Environment and Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley. She began her fundraising career as founder and president of Athletic Ventures, LLC, a company that created and operated sporting events for various nonprofit organizations. A former professional athlete, Boyd-Stewart is a three-time Olympic Trials Marathon Qualifier and a four-time member of a United States world team.
Dedicated to ongoing professional development for herself and others, Boyd-Stewart conducts webinars and conference sessions for organizations such as the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy and the Association of Women in Psychology. In addition to earning her M.A. from the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, she holds a Certificate in Nonprofit Executive Leadership from the school. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan with dual concentrations in philosophy and economics and was a varsity letter holder in cross country.
