Biography
Dr. Hall-Russell has over 20 years in executive leadership in both the nonprofit and corporate sectors. She has been at the helm of multiple nonprofit agencies in several states and has focused most of her career on working with systemically underserved communities. She also worked in the corporate sector including 2 years in the U.K.
After completing her doctorate Dr. Hall-Russell established the qualitative research firm, Black Women Wise Women LLC (BW3). BW3works with organizations committed to inclusive practices and establishing organizational cultures that center equity. The company excels in organizational assessments, creating effective strategies,
providing needed training, building accountability systems, and coaching for success.
A sought-after speaker, moderator, and writer, Dr. Hall-Russell’s well-established brand positions her as a highly effective facilitator on challenging topics. She has served as an adjunct professor of Qualitative Research Methods for the Ed.D at Point Park University
and was the Visiting Scholar from 2021-22 at Chatham University’s Women’s Institute.
She has published two books on philanthropy, and her work has appeared in peer-reviewed journals. Hall-Russell has penned op-eds as a freelance columnist for both the Indpls. Star and the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. She is also recognized as an effective podcaster, having moderated a live public affairs program in Pittsburgh called, “What
Black Pittsburgh Needs to Know” producing over 100 shows. Additionally, she facilitates national conversations on race and health equity for the Independent Sector and the Pittsburgh Study.
Dr. Hall-Russell is the former Chair of the board of Planned Parenthood SWPA, is on the Advisory board for Black Women for a Better Education (BW4BE), is past Chair of the IU Distinguished Alumni Committee of the Paul O’Neil School of Public and Environmental Affairs, and serves on the alumni committee for the Lilly School of Philanthropy at Indiana University.
