Founder of Global Philanthropy Forum will discuss its creation and evolution, and recent changes in philanthropy
International philanthropy and how philanthropy is changing will be among the topics discussed by Global Philanthropy Forum Founder and World Affairs Council President Jan Wales in a public conversation on Wed., Sept. 25, in Indianapolis.
Wales, who also hosts the nationally syndicated National Public Radio program “WorldAffairs,” will be interviewed by Amir Pasic, Ph.D., the Eugene R. Tempel Dean of the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at IU Indianapolis, which is hosting the conversation.
The event is free and open to the public and media. It will be held at the IU Indianapolis University Library’s Lilly Auditorium, 755 W. Michigan Street in Indianapolis, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.; registration is requested.
Wales is Vice President, Philanthropy and Society, of the Aspen Institute and Executive Director of its Program on Philanthropy and Social Innovation. She held senior positions in the Clinton and Carter administrations, serving as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director of the National Security Council, Associate Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State.
In the philanthropic sector, Wales chaired the international security programs at the Carnegie Corporation of New York and the W. Alton Jones Foundation and directed the Project on World Security at the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. She was acting CEO of The Elders, chaired by Archbishop Desmond Tutu and founded by Nelson Mandela. She is a member of the board of directors for the Center for a New American Security and FSG.
