Tiara Dungy
A new addition to The Fund Raising School practitioner faculty, Tiara Dungy will leverage her experiences building the capacity for impact of small nonprofits, entrepreneurial philanthropists, and programs in transition to support the continuing education of fundraising professionals. Tiara also supports communities across the world as a justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion education consultant.
Tiara’s professional career has rotated between the philanthropic, public, and private sectors in both the United States and South Africa including diversity and inclusion at the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina, corporate social responsibility at Comcast Corporation, and community outreach for the US Fund for UNICEF. She has spent most of the last 17 years establishing rich networks of global learning through consulting, community service, and research with a focus on social justice, education, and entrepreneurship.
In 2019 the Graduate Office of IUPUI honored Tiara with the “Elite 50” prize which honors “graduate and professional students who demonstrate excellence beyond the classroom—in areas such as campus leadership, scholarly work, and community engagement”. Her publications can be found in the Africa Journal of Management and on LearningtoGive.com.
Her community servant leadership includes active engagement with civic organizations that promote the cultivation of human and social capital through advocacy including South Carolina Women’s Rights and Empowerment Network Gender Advocacy Fellow, board member for the City of Columbia Citizen’s Advisory Board on Community Development, Leadership Fellow with the Urban League, and the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College.
Tiara earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Spelman College, a master’s degree in international relations from the University of the Witwatersrand, a master’s degree in philanthropic studies from Indiana University. Tiara is currently pursuing a PhD in Foundations of Education and Qualitative Inquiry at the University of South Carolina.
