Jackie W. Franey, CAP®, CSPG
Jackie has over 30 years of experience in charitable gift planning for a range of nonprofits. She specializes in cultivating meaningful connections with senior leaders, fostering strategic partnerships and leading remote and diverse fundraising teams. Her proficiency extends to program development and implementation, noncash assets and complex gifts fundraising and conducting presentations and speaking engagements.
Prior to opening her own consulting practice, Jackie was director of gift planning at The Nature Conservancy (TNC), where she was responsible for managing a fundraising team that collectively secured over 1,900 planned giving commitments and $200 million annually in deferred gifts. During her eight-year tenure, the gift planning revenue grew from $130M to $200M annually and $2M+ gift commitments increased from 26% to 49% of total gift planning revenue in three years. Before her work at TNC, she was director of development at the Dallas Museum of Art; planned giving sales director at BNY Mellon Wealth Management; donor relations director at the Communities Foundation of Texas; and planned giving officer at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. Jackie also led the national planned giving program at the American Heart Association for 10 years and was responsible for implementing a centralized marketing program that generated more than $100 million in annual income.
Jackie is recognized as a leader in the planned giving community. She was inducted into the Charitable Gift Planners (CGP) Hall of Fame in 2020, which recognizes those whose life’s work has impacted charitable gift planning in significant ways, advancing the mission of CGP and bringing credit to all the professionals engaged in charitable planning. She has previously served as president of the North Texas chapter of the National Committee on Planned Giving; board member of the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners; steering committee and peer review committee member for the Leadership Institute; and served for ten years on the editorial advisory board of Planned Giving Today. She was a former faculty member for the Institute for Charitable Giving – Planned Giving Institute, College of William and Mary and a former facilitator for the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®) study program. She has been a national speaker and presenter and has published numerous articles on charitable gift planning.
Jackie earned a business degree from LeTourneau University and a certificate in financial planning from Southern Methodist University. She is also a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®) and Certified Specialist in Planned Giving (CSPG). She lives in Carrboro, NC with her husband and German Shepherd, Grey, and enjoys mentoring others in the planned giving profession and volunteering in the local community.
