Benjamin (Ben) Mohler, MA, CFRE
Ben is the founder and chief executive of GivingThree LLC, a consulting firm specializing in nonprofit board development, strategic planning, and fundraising leadership.
He previously served as Vice President of Institutional Advancement for the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) and Executive Director for the KCTCS Foundation, where he led systemwide philanthropy, advancement operations, and grant administration.
His career includes leadership roles at Eastern Kentucky University, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Cedarville University, and The University of Texas at Austin, where he built fundraising teams, managed fundraising programs, led capital campaigns, and secured several multimillion-dollar gifts.
Ben is a nonprofit executive, fundraising strategist, and educator with over two decades of experience in philanthropy and institutional advancement. He has also served as a subject matter expert for Texas A&M University, guest lecturer for Eastern Kentucky University, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and finally as a faculty member for Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.
He holds a Master of Arts in Philanthropy and Development from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts from Cedarville University. He is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) and one of fewer than 120 professionals worldwide to earn the Advanced Certified Fund Raising Executive (ACFRE) designation.
A recognized leader in the sector, Ben serves on the boards of United Way of Kentucky and the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Global and has contributed to professional education and mentoring programs nationwide. This includes roles chairing the Publishing Advisory Committee for the AFP/Wiley Fund Development Series, serving on the ACFRE Credentialing Board, the Government Relations Committee for the Fundraising Effectiveness Project, the AHP Journal Advisory Council, and Apra International Conference Planning Committee.
He is a past recipient of the Forty Under 40 Award from Charlotte Business Journal, the Exemplary Service Award from AFP Bluegrass, and was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
