Biography
Eric is a technology entrepreneur and impact investor dedicated to building systems that amplify human potential and create positive change.
Eric is Co-founder of Ubik, Inc., a technology startup building evidence-based AI agents for deep knowledge work and research within a unified platform. Ubik's mission is to make information accessible, amplify human intelligence, and strengthen autonomy through a human-first AI design philosophy that prioritizes augmentation over replacement. Simultaneously, Eric serves as Managing Partner at Buena Ola Capital, a triple bottom line investment firm focused on people, planet, and prosperity. Buena Ola invests in opportunities that demonstrate net positive impacts for both people and the planet while delivering attractive financial returns. Drawing upon his extensive experience in finance, Eric applies a data-driven approach to ensure the firm's investments align with its mission.
Eric's professional journey is characterized by a diverse array of experiences. He spent 13 years at ValueWorks, a long/short investment firm with a fundamental, research-driven value discipline, concluding his tenure as Co-Portfolio Manager and Senior Analyst. Prior to ValueWorks, he served as an Equity Research Analyst at the IU Foundation and Analyst at Artist Capital. His entrepreneurial journey began earlier when he co-founded Eargazmic Inc., an online music distribution company. As a Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) Open Water Scuba Instructor, he has taught students worldwide, sharing his passion for ocean exploration and conservation.
Beyond his professional work, Eric actively supports initiatives focused on education, the arts, community, and biodiversity conservation. He has been a Professional Member of PADI since 2002 and a member of the Nosara Civic Association (NCA) since 2018. In 2024, Eric joined the Board of Trustees at Heritage Museums & Gardens in Sandwich, Massachusetts, where he also serves on the Finance Committee.
Eric holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with minors in Spanish and Studio Art (2000) and a Master of Business Administration with a focus in Finance and Accounting from the Kelley School of Business (2007), both from Indiana University.
